Tourism Australia anniversary to be celebrated with EEAA mentoring dinner

As Tourism Australia prepares to celebrate 50 years of promoting Australia to the world, the Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) has joined up with Tourism Australia Chairman, Tony South, to treat young business event professionals to a night of mentoring and networking.

The special EEAA Young Stars & Leaders Table will be held next week at Longrain in Surry Hills and is open to students and working professionals who are part of the exhibition and business event sector.

Tourism Australia is the government agency responsible for attracting international visitors to Australia, both for leisure and business events and EEAA Chief Executive, Joyce DiMascio, said it was an honour to have Tony as the guest leader in what is Tourism Australia’s 50th year of operation.

This week in Sydney, the Tourism Australia team is hosting Tourism Australia’s biggest trade expo, Australian Tourism Exchange.

DiMascio stated “Tony is one of the most respected and accomplished leaders in Asia Pacific Business Events, Tourism, Hospitality, and Hotels having been the CEO of the Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau (now Business Events Sydney) and the current Chairman of Tourism Australia – an organisation responsible for marketing Australia as a business events destination.

“We are honoured Tony has made himself available to mentor our younger Members. He has a strong background in business events which our younger members could learn a lot from.”

South is currently Chairman of Tourism Australia, a Director of CAMS Ltd. (The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport), a member of the Advisory Board of Quest Apartments Ltd., and, formerly Chairman of Tourism Accommodation Australia and Director, Campus Living Villages.

The EEAA Young Stars Program provides a forum for mentoring and developing young leaders in the exhibition and events industry. Each year the EEAA puts on a number of events for the Young Stars to nurture and improve their skills.

The Young Stars & Leaders Table series provides face-to-face mentoring and advice from top industry leaders, often inaccessible to young industry professionals. It is part of EEAA’s commitment to fostering young talent and promoting careers within exhibitions and events.
