TIX buys Showbiz assets

With Showbiz International having been placed into voluntary administration nearly two months ago, ticket reseller TIX has bought the brand and “certain database assets” of the former premium ticketing company.

TIX is a ticketing deal business which owns Firsttix, Lasttix, Movietix and Fasttix and it understood that it will launch a new Showbiz website in July.

TIX General Manager (Australia and New Zealand) Sheila Moloney told theMusicNetwork "we’re really excited about the purchase of the Showbiz database and trademarks.

"The brand will allow us to close the gap in our product suite by offering a new, high yield, VIP channel for premium seats and packages.”

Former Showbiz Chief Executive Craig McMaster has handed over operations to TIX’s founders.

He told theMusicNetwork he is not involved nor party to the transaction, stating “I understand that TIX have acquired the Showbiz brand and certain assets from the Administrators.

“As we were unable to restructure our previous business in a way that enabled its recovery, unfortunately that iteration of Showbiz will not be trading again.

"I am pleased however, that a great brand like Showbiz will live on and wish the new owners every success.”

Showbiz was selling tickets to major musicals across the country including Wicked and Grease when it entered administration at the beginning of April.

TIX is best known for its Lasttix 'last minute' ticket distribution.
