Ticketek wins contract to replace BOCS at PTT venues

Western Australian Culture and the Arts Minister John Day has today named Ticketek as the new ticketing service provider for venues managed by the Perth Theatre Trust (PTT).

The long awaited announcement follows the decision, revealed in January, that the Western Australian Government would "decommission" its wholly-owned ticketing agency BOCS Ticketing.

Having tendered the ticketing contract in June, Minister Day explained that Ticketek's bid offered excellence in technology and marketing and a strong understanding of the Western Australian market, stating "Ticketek's offer met the tender brief as well as the requirements of the trust."

As provided in the Perth Theatre Trust (PTT) venue management agreement, AEG Ogden (Perth) Pty Ltd will manage the new ticketing service agreement and the existing box offices at the PTT venues.

With expectation that BOCS will be wound up by the end of September, Minister Day added "we expect Ticketek to be fully operational in September 2012."

The transition should be complete by the time Perth's major arts companies begin launching their 2013 programs.

The Perth Theatre Trust venues are:

His Majesty's Theatre;
Perth Concert Hall;
State Theatre Centre of Western Australia;
Subiaco Arts Centre;
Albany Entertainment Centre.

Minister Day concluded that patrons would not be unduly affected by the transition, stating "both BOCS and Ticketek will operate in parallel during the transition period and all BOCS tickets will be honoured by Ticketek."

Established 30 years ago, BOCS is one of the world's last subsidised ticketing agencies. Its operations have been subsidised by the WA Government to the tune of about $350,000 a year, revenues having dropped sharply in 2008 when it lost the ticketing contract for the Burswood and Regal theatres.
