Sydney’s Hills Shire to commence $2 million playground extension

Hills Shire Council in Western Sydney is set to start work on a $2 million upgrade and extension at the popular Livvi’s Place all-abilities playground at Bernie Mullane Reserve in Kellyville.

The revamp aims to transform the area into an all-inclusive recreation space, providing cutting-edge play opportunities for children of all ages and abilities.

The extension will introduce a variety of new features, including an accessible multi-activity play tower, a double flying fox, slides, a climbing net and swings designed for both toddlers and older children.

Additionally, the project includes the construction of an accessible amenities building, complete with a ‘Changing Places’ room, with an overhead hoist, shower, toilet and ambulant unisex cubicles.

The upgrades will also encompass shade sails, picnic shelters, a dry creek bed, accessible park furniture and wide pathways.

The Livvi’s Place Playground Extension Project is being funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants (WSIG) Program in partnership with Council. The WSIG Program will deliver $2 billion of transformational infrastructure across Western Sydney - with $1.1 million going towards the Livvi’s Place project.

Advising that the joint funding is elevating local infrastructure and nurturing an inclusive community within The Hills Shire, Hills Shire Mayor, Peter Gangemi commented “I believe Livvi’s Place is our best playground in The Hills and this upgrade will make the location even better for our residents.

“This playground has been a much-loved space for our families, and this grant will allow us to enhance and expand it even further. I want to thank the NSW Government for helping us create even more opportunities for play.

“We’re proud to provide a place where children of all ages and abilities can have fun, and I hope this facility continues to bring joy to our community for generations to come.”

The playground will be partially closed starting mid-September 2024 for the extension works to take place.
