Kidsafe National Playspace Design Awards recognise safe and creative playspaces

Coinciding with National Kidsafe Day, the 2016 Kidsafe National Playspace Design Awards have been presented.

Recognising excellence and innovation in the provision of safe, creative playspaces, the Awards are open to playground owners, service providers, design professionals, students, and landscapers from across Australia.

Commenting on the Awards, a Kidsafe statement advised “the Awards aim to promote inspirational, innovative, best practice play facilities that encourage healthy participation in recreational activities for all children.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase playspace design in action.”

The 2016 winners are:

Education and Care Services 
Winner: Wandana Outdoor Learning Area, Gillies Plains, South Australia
Highly Commended: Fit Kidz Putney Playspace, Putney, NSW

Schools
Winner: Skywalker Playground, Kellyville Public School, Kellyville, NSW
Highly Commended: Mater Dei School, Camden, NSW

Public Playspaces Category A (less than $500,000)
Winner: Eyre Park All Abilities Regional Playspace, Middleton , Western Australia 
Highly Commended: Phoenix Park Playspace, Drummoyne, NSW

Public Playspaces Category B (costing $500,000 to $1 million)
Winner: Valley Reserve SPARC, Mt Waverley, Victoria
Highly Commended: Sydney Park Bike Track, St Peters, NSW

Public Playspaces Category C (costing more than $1 million)
Winner: Playford Alive Town Park, Munno Para, South Australia
Highly Commended: Early Start Discovery Space, University of Wollongong, NSW

Leycester Meares Memorial Award
Special Recognition for Innovative Design: The Happy Garden, Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, NSW
