Perth Royal Show selects Megatix for second year running
Western Australian based ticketing company Megatix has been selected by the Perth Royal Show for a second year running, with Megatix’s highly customisable technology and rapid ticket-scanning capability noted as key to their success.
Ticketing and technology solutions set up by Megatix played a vital role in keeping visitors to last year’s Royal Show safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting restrictions. The company developed several purpose-built solutions including automatic contact-tracing for all ticketholders and a camera system to provide live data on crowd density.
Michelle Carey, Commercial Manager at the Royal Agricultural Society of WA advised “one of the major benefits of working with Megatix is the technology can be tailored to suit our needs. This was really highlighted by their ability to help with our COVID-related challenges last year.
“Megatix also significantly sped up our ticket-scanning and online sales. On our busiest day last year, we were able to scan through 16,000 tickets per hour, which reduced queuing at entrances and helped us comply with our social distancing requirements. In addition, the processing time for online ticket sales was the best we ever had, with an average of over two tickets sold per second.”
This year, Megatix is focused on boosting efficiency and introducing further ease of use features. This will include the ability to add tickets to a Google or Android phone wallet, even faster entry scanning, and a convenient digital dashboard that will allow Show exhibitors, competitors and staff to issue and manage their own limited-access passes.
Importantly, given the heightened measures in place to protect against the accidental introduction of foot-and-mouth disease, Megatix has embedded visitor consent to health and biosecurity protocols within the ticket at point of purchase.
Roshan Odhavji, the co-founder of Megatix, commented “large-scale events like the Perth Royal Show face different challenges every year, so it’s vital that the ticketing technology they use is flexible enough to meet their changing requirements. Our customisable system means that we are able to tailor our solutions depending on the clients’ need.”
The Perth Royal Show runs from 24th September to 1st October
Tickets can be purchased via the Megatix Australia website
