Sustainable and Innovative Sports Grounds spotlighted at NSC23
The 2023 National Sports & Physical Activity Convention (NSC23) will host a keynote session on sustainable and innovative sports grounds.
Experts in the field of sustainability and innovation in sports grounds will participate in the Keynote Session on Thursday, 27th July 2023, from 11:15 AM - 12:30 PM.
Speakers include:
Martin O’Dea, Principal Landscape Architect CLOUSTON Associates who will cover the key issues and options available for the planning, designing and management of sports surfaces for the next generation. O’Dea is an award-winning landscape architect and the lead author of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, Climate Positive Design Action Plan published in October 2022.
John Neylan, Turf Agronomist, SPORTENG who will explore the evolution of Natural sports turf to address climate change challenges. Neylan has extensive experience in undertaking research and consultancy with a wide range of clients including golf, major sports stadia, local government and racetracks and has expertise in soils, sports turf profile design, drainage, water management and turfgrass evaluation.
Martin Sheppard, Managing Director, Smart Connection Consultancy, Chair IAKS Expert Circle for Sports Surfaces, who will discuss innovation and the next generation of synthetic surfaces to meet environmental challenges. Sheppard has over 40 years’ experience in the sport and leisure industry and provides extensive sports management, programming, planning knowledge and insights into the design, procurement, management and maintenance of sports fields and facilities.
