National Sports Convention keynote session explores future of sport and governance in Australia
The upcoming National Sports Convention keynote session - How Can Australian Sport Efficiently and Effectively Work Within and Leverage the Federal System? - is expected to be a highlight discussion of the NSC21, bringing together five industry heavyweights to explore and share insights about the future of sport and governance in Australia.
Andrew Larratt opens the session and draws parallels with the Australian National and State political systems to set the scene comparison with the Federated sports model, why it is different and what we need to explore for the future. A really compelling, objective and rational premise to start the panel conversation.
Larratt is a highly respected leader in the sport industry and is regarded as an inspirational innovator and strategist, an Adviser to Boards and Executive teams. He had a distinguished career across Australian cricket (1999-2013) progressing from a local Regional Cricket Manager through to the National Participation Manager and Strategic Advisor where he became known as one of the sport’s great strategic thinkers. More recently Larratt was the Executive General Manager, Sport Business at Sport Australia (2018-2021).
The Panel Discussion, featuring current and past NSO Chief Executives and Chairs debate Larratt’s premise and share insights in a pragmatic, open, honest and constructive manner. With the advice and independence of Iain Roy, Chief Executive Sports Integrity and Governance Partners, this session is a must for every sports Board Member, State and National Sports Leader.
The panel consists of:
Marne Fechner, Chief Executive Officer, AusCycling
Ned Coten, Past President, Basketball Australia
Leigh Russell, Program Director, Champions of Change Coalition and past CEO of Swimming Australia & Netball Victoria
