Sport industry and technology events postponed to 2022

Organisers of Australia’s Sports Innovation Week and the SportNXT Global Summit have advised that each event has been postponed to 2022.

Amid continued uncertainty over interstate travel, Johann Odou, Director of the Sports Tech World, blamed “the current COVID-19 situation in Australia” for the postponement of Sports Innovation Week, advising “we are committed to staging a world class ‘in-person’ event, that will maximise involvement from around the country and benefit the sports technology and innovation community.

“The decision to move the event to 2022 will ensure we can deliver against this vision.

“We are thankful for the great support shown by all our event partners and look forward to bringing the Sports Innovation Week to Queensland for the first time next year.”

Odou went on to note "it continues to be an exciting time for sport in Queensland, fuelled by the recent 2032 Olympic Games announcement, and we look forward to playing our part in contributing to the development of the sector through the delivery of this annual event over the next three years”.

Sports Innovation Week had been due to be held on the Gold Coast from 1st to 3rd September.

Originally due to be held from 17th to 19th November, organisers of the inaugural SportNXT Global Summit has been rescheduled to 6th and 7th April 2022, stating that “(this) aligns with the change of date for the Australian Grand Prix.”
