National Sports Convention spotlights relationship between sport and climate change
The National Sports and Physical Activity Convention live virtual Keynote Session on Thursday 2nd December (9.00am-10.30am AEDT) will spotlight the impact of climate change on sport and the opportunity for sport to impact climate change.
The National Sports and Physical Activity Convention has embraced the principles underpinning the Sport for Climate Action Framework launched by the United Nations at the recently held COP26.
Global warming and sustainability has been highlighted significantly during the past few years and most recently with COP26 in the past month. Global warming is placing our planet and future generations at risk, with all levels of government, many businesses and now sport, all responding to these challenges.
The United Nations Sport for Climate Action Framework has the following five Principles:
Undertake systematic efforts to promote greater environmental responsibility
Reduce overall climate impact
Educate for climate action
Promote sustainable and responsible consumption
Advocate for climate action through communication
The National Sports and Physical Activity Convention has embraced these Principles and the NSC21 program reflects this with their key speakers. Their live virtual Keynote Session on Thursday 2nd December (9.00am-10.30am AEDT) features:
