Sunshine Coast Council offers free Zumba classes at Kings Beach

As part of the Healthy Sunshine Coast initiative, Sunshine Coast Council is offering a trial program of free Zumba classes at Caloundra’s Kings Beach Park and Amphitheatre.

Being offered to residents and visitors and designed for all levels of fitness, the classes will start from Tuesday 3rd April and run for three weeks.

Since the launch of the Healthy Sunshine Coast program in 2016, thousands of people across the Coast have experienced the benefits of improved health and wellbeing.

Sunshine Coast Councillor Jenny McKay said the great response to Healthy Sunshine Coast had seen some programs book out within days, explaining “they are designed to motivate, inspire and support our community so they feel the health and social benefits of taking part in physical exercise.”

The Council has secured experienced Zumba Fitness instructor Sharon Cameron to run the initial three-week program for the community.

Explaining that Zumba is a fun, effective cardio-based workout which suits everyone, Cameron advised “there is no judgement in my classes – it is all about fun wiggles and giggles with a beautiful bunch of people.”

Sunshine Coast Councillor Tim Dwyer said Kings Beach Park added that the program may be continued beyond its initial three weeks, advising “if there is support and demand to continue the Zumba classes we will look at continuing them into the future.”
