Visits to Sunshine Coast Council’s aquatic centres improve wellbeing
Sunshine Coast Council Community Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay has emphasised how visits to the Council’s aquatic centres can improve wellbeing.
In a recent statement, Councillor McKay advised how with 10 council aquatic centres located across the region, the community can discover a range of fun activities to suit everyone.
She explained “aquatic facilities are unique community assets which contribute towards significant health, fitness and social benefits for members of all the community.
“One of the key targets of council’s Sunshine Coast Social Strategy 2015 was for the region to maintain its ranking as the healthiest in Queensland and heading to an aquatic centre is a step in the right direction to achieving this.
“Our aquatic centres are inviting public spaces which encourage healthy lifestyles and improves the overall liveability of our region.
“Council’s aquatic centres offer a range of programs and services from lap swimming to learn-to-swim programs, spray parks and aquatic interactive play structures.
“These programs also complement the new Healthy Sunshine Coast health and wellbeing initiative available for residents to participate across the Coast.
"There’s no excuse to taking that first step to improving your wellbeing (so) be sure to get out and get active."
