Melbourne attractions look forward to reopening to public in June
Following the Victorian Government’s recent move to ease COVID-19 restrictions, SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium will reopen on Monday 1st June 2020 with Australia’s LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre reopening to the public on Thursday 4th June 2020.
Both attractions have implemented several new measures to ensure the health and safety of all visitors and team members.
LEGOLAND Discovery Centre General Manager, Katie Isaac advises “we are excited for guests to return to LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and have been working behind the scenes to ensure the attraction is a safe and fun place for families to visit. Moving forward we ask that all guests, including our valued annual pass holders, pre-book their timeslot in advance.”
The attraction is moving forward with a cashless approach with all visitors being requested to pre-book tickets online. The daily capacity has been reduced to allow for social distancing and the best possible guest experience. Enhanced cleaning measures have been introduced to disinfect LEGO and high-frequency touch points. LEGOLAND Discovery Centre’s industrial cleaning machine is being used to clean LEGO bricks three times per day. Social distancing controls are in place for play areas and café tables.
Isaac added “we can’t wait to welcome guests back inside the attraction so we can continue doing what we do best – creating bricktastic experiences for families! Whether it be creating LEGO masterpieces, jumping through the soft play zones, watching 4D movies or racing LEGO cars, there is plenty of fun and playful learning to be enjoyed at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre.
“While the attraction has been closed to the public since 23rd March, our adjoining retail store has continued to operate with additional social distancing and sanitary measures in place. During this time, we have also launched an online retail store and brought joy into many homes through our program of free live streams, which have had phenomenal feedback!”
Hosted by Master Model Builder Kieran Jiwa, the live streams have included building workshops, interviews, Q&As, LEGO product reviews and have given children all over Australia the opportunity to share their LEGO creations and interact with Jiwa. Now children are welcome to come and meet Jiwa in person!
For a limited time only, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is offering guests a 20% discount on admission tickets!
Located at Chadstone Shopping Centre, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is home to a LEGO model of Melbourne, various build and play zones, two rides, a 4D cinema, retail store and much more! The attraction is designed specifically for families with children aged 3-10. Adults must be accompanied by a child (except when visiting the retail store or attending Adult Night events).
SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium will be reopening its doors to the public on Monday 1st June 2020.
Guests can discover the marine magic of the aquarium knowing there are additional health and safety measures in place to ensure the wellbeing of all visitors, team members and animals.
The reopening of the whole aquarium – including the new Ocean Invaders exhibit featuring thousands of mesmerising jellyfish – will give families the opportunity to experience a much-needed outing.
SEA LIFE Melbourne General Manager, Sarah-Jane Tilbury enthuses “we are thrilled to welcome guests back to SEA LIFE Melbourne. In order to ensure all of our guests feel completely at ease visiting the aquarium, we have implemented a range of new health and safety measures that seek to reduce the risks associated with the presence of COVID-19. First and foremost, we ask that all guests pre-book their tickets online in advance so we can manage the number of people in the building.”
SEA LIFE Melbourne is moving forward with a cashless approach and is requesting all visitors pre-book their tickets online to guarantee entry. The daily capacity has been reduced to allow for social distancing and the best possible guest experience. Enhanced cleaning measures have been introduced throughout the day to disinfect high-frequency touch points. Social distancing controls are in place for queues, café tables and viewing areas.
Tilbury added “Our dedicated team of aquarists and keepers have continued to work during the closure to ensure all of the incredible aquatic animals have been happy, healthy and well-fed, and to prepare for our reopening. The team has missed the wonderful in-person interactions with guests, however, we have continued to bring the aquarium to people all over Australia and the world via our live streams and virtual aquarium.”
Several of the most popular live streams have featured the enthralling displays of jellyfish in SEA LIFE Melbourne’s newest exhibit, Ocean Invaders, which opened in December.
Featuring six species of jellyfish and an educational Jelly Lab, Ocean Invaders gives guests a fascinating insight into the life of these spineless sea creatures. The immersive new exhibit was only open to the public for a few months before the aquarium temporarily closed its doors so it’s a wonderful reason for people to visit!
To celebrate the reopening, guests can take advantage of a 15% discount on admission tickets!
SEA LIFE Melbourne is also home to sharks of all shapes and sizes, various species of rays, thousands of colourful tropical fish, a huge saltwater crocodile and Victoria’s only colony of sub-Antarctic King and Gentoo penguins.
