Sorrento Baths destroyed by fire

Firefighters have battled an intense blaze overnight which has destroyed The Baths restaurant on Pt Nepean Road at Sorrento.

CFA District 8 Operations Officer Arthur Haynes said crews arrived shortly after 8pm to find the roof space engulfed by fire.

Haynes explained "crews battled hard to bring the blaze under control given its intensity.

“The laminated glass windows around the building made access inside the building difficult.

“Due to the location of the building firefighters initially dealt with a lack of water pressure, which was quickly resolved.”

11 crews worked to bring the fire under control by 10.30pm with firefighters from Frankston, Rye, Sorrento, Rosebud and Mt Martha were in attendance.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
