Australian Grand Prix Corporation names Foxtix as official ticketing provider
Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) Chairman, Ron Walker has announced that the company has signed News Limited’s Foxtix to a five-year partnership as the official ticketing provider for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix and Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
Foxtix replaces Ticketek as the official ticketing provider of the events, effective from 1st January 2011 following an extensive tender process which began in June.
Walker explained “we are delighted to award Foxtix the ticketing rights to both the Formula One Australian Grand Prix and the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix. We look forward to what I have no doubt will be a long and successful partnership with News Limited.
“Foxtix put forward a highly professional and extremely compelling pitch, which greatly impressed the AGPC management team as well as members of the AGPC Board.
”The combination of Foxtix’s flexible service and technology, including the ability for consumers to choose their own seats at venues, and the depth of media support from News Limited publications, made them the frontrunners.”
News Limited’s Chairman and Chief Executive, John Hartigan, said he was thrilled Foxtix had secured such a prestigious flagship client so quickly after launching, adding “to sign a partnership with the AGPC is a real honour, we could not have dreamt of a better flagship client for Foxtix than the AGPC – with two landmark events on the Australian sporting calendar.
“This partnership sends a clear message to the ticketing industry – Foxtix is here to shake up the market.”
Foxtix General Manager of Foxtix, Adam McArthur said that he was very excited to have been chosen as the official ticketing provider for the AGPC, “when we launched, we said there was a clear need for a third player in the market. This signing signifies the beginning of a real shift in the ticketing market. What we presented the AGPC with was a genuine ticketing alternative.”
Customers who purchased tickets for the 2011 Formula 1™ Qantas Australian Grand Prix prior to 1st January 2011 should rest assured that there will be no disruption to the schedule of ticket delivery.
