Steve Romer appointed VMA Chief Executive

Venue Management Association [Asia and Pacific] (VMA) President Brian Morris has announced that Steve Romer has been appointed as the Association’s permanent Chief Executive following his initial appointment to the role on an interim basis in early February.

Romer will now permanently oversee the business and operations of the VMA, including the implementation of the Association’s Strategic Business Plan.

Commenting on the role, Romer explained “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed leading the VMA in an interim capacity over the last three months and I’m thrilled and delighted to be commencing on a permanent basis.

“The VMA is well positioned as the preeminent Association for venue professionals in the Asia Pacific region, and I look forward to strategically growing the Association whilst continuing to improve the quality of membership benefits.”

Morris welcomed the appointment of Romer stating “Steve has accepted an offer of employment as the VMA’s new Chief Executive.

“He has done a tremendous job over the past few months in quickly getting to grips with the organisation and the challenges facing us. His knowledge of the industry, networks and experience will be an incredible asset to the Association.”

Steve Romer had been General Manager of the Sydney Entertainment Centre from 2009 until December last year and had served as VMA President from 2008 to 2011

Previously he had held executive roles at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Blacktown International Sports Park and at Gold Coast theme parks Dreamworld and Sea World.
