Romer Re-Elected
Steve Romer has been elected to serve a second term as President of the Venue Management Association (Asia and Pacific).
First elected as President in 2008, Romer's re-election was announced to members attending the Annual VMA 2009 Congress held at the Surfers Paradise Marriott on the Gold Coast, Queensland this week.
Other office bearers elected by the Council include new Vice President Brian Morris of Melbourne & Olympic Parks Trust; Secretary Steve Hevern, of AEG Ogden where he works as Manager of Technical Services; and Treasurer Rod Pilbeam, also of AEG Ogden, and a former President of VMA.
Steve Romer has been Director of Operations at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre since 2003. With a career spanning some 27 years, he has held various senior management positions with venues including Blacktown Olympic Park, Dreamworld, Sea World, and Taronga Zoo.
Steve has been a VMA Councillor since 2002. He is a representative of the International Association of Assembly Managerâs International Steering Committee (ISC), is VMA's Relationships Committee Chairman and was a member of the VMA's Emergency Management Planning Taskforce. Steve has also coordinated VMA membership events in Sydney, and has participated in many VMA seminars and activities over the years of his membership.
