Sport Climbing Australia partners with Urban Climb
Sport Climbing Australia (SCA), the national governing body for the sport of competition climbing in Australia has announced Urban Climb (UC) as the National Training Partner of the Australian Sport Climbing Team and National Youth Program.
Through the relationship, 2025 training camps and international comp sims for these two programs will be delivered exclusively at an Urban Climb venue.
Leading climbing gym operator Urban Climb offers Olympic-standard climbing walls, speed and lead climbing, and bouldering at its venues.
The three disciplines in the sport of competition climbing in Australia include:
Lead One attempt on a 18 metre route, testing endurance and strategy. The climber who gets the highest wins.
Boulder Power and technique are used for an explosive performance to complete a short 4 metre route in as few attempts as possible.
Speed Fastest time up a standardised 15 metre route. This discipline requires explosive power and movement rehearsal.
The 2025 calendar of international simulations is:
15th/16th March, Adelaide, South Australia
5th/6th April, West End, Queensland
7th/8th June, Blackburn, Victoria
11th/1th2 October, Adelaide, South Australia
The first activity is just weeks away with SCA confirming B-Pump’s Katsu Miyazawa as the Head Route Setter. Limited spots will be available to join the two-day event for non-members of the ASCT and NYP.
Excitingly, at the end of the year, SCA will also be hosting an exclusive training camp for the country’s best Youth B and C athletes. More details will be shared in the months ahead.
