Sport Climbing Australia releases its 2024-2028 Strategic Plan

Sport Climbing Australia has released its 2024-2028 Strategic Plan which Philip Goebel Chair, Sport Climbing Australia notes “embodies the growing maturity of Sport Climbing Australia as a National Sporting Organisation and our developing capability and capacity to deliver strategic priorities to our community.”

Goebel added “as sport climbing is about to makes its second appearance at an Olympic Games and with the 2032 Brisbane home Olympic Games in sight - this strategic plan articulates our vision and priority areas for development.

“Participation in climbing continues to grow substantially in Australia and Sport Climbing Australia is establishing itself as a vital part of the community to assist with the continuing development of the sport.

“The past year has seen Sport Climbing Australia first investment from the AIS into our sport to develop our high performance program. This partnership will drive our ability to transform growing participation in climbing to world-class podium performances through athlete pathways development and nurturing a worldclass sport climbing workforce. This investment also demands that Sport Climbing Australia lead the way in our community with sound governance, strong leadership and the development of a positive and welcoming culture.

“The success of this plan depends on working with our member organisations, stakeholders and membership base and we look forward to engaging with you to bring this plan to life.”

SPORT CLIMBING AUSTRALIA STRATEGIC PLAN 2024-2028

GROW
Climbing in Australia has experienced recent rapid growth. Sport Climbing Australia must continue its growth trajectory to serve the growing climbing community by investing in their team and building a sustainable operating foundation.

This will mean responding to and adapting their operational models to ensure they can work with all of their stakeholders optimally to deliver outcomes which further the development of climbing in Australia and benefit members.

PROVIDE
Sport Climbing Australia will serve the Australian climbing community by developing programs, products and services that add value to the entire community. Through working in collaboration with partners and key stakeholders, they will strive to embed pathway activities to build world class capability that helps climbers progress from beginner to elite.

WIN
The climbing community will develop and sustain high performing athletes and an SCA workforce that supports them. The stories they bring to Australians through champions will inspire and nurture a high-performance environment with inclusivity, integrity and collaboration.

CONNECT
Sport Climbing Australia will work to create more opportunities for their community to get together by facilitating meaningful connection. This means creating two-way communication opportunities and engagement resources which empower their communities to thrive.

DELIVER
Sport Climbing Australia will create outstanding event experiences that create a sense of belonging and spaces to celebrate our common passions. They will look for ways to broaden the appeal to participate in events through thinking innovatively about an event program and how they can best work with partners.
