Sisters to expand Australia’s TAPfit dance-fitness brand to the UK

Four sisters who represented Australia at the World Dance Championships have announced plans to launch their dance-fitness brand in the United Kingdom.

Created by triplets Annie, Rachel and Fiona, and younger sister Katherine Johnson, TAPfit will hold its first instructor training days in England and Scotland next month.

TAPfit Director Katherine Johnson explained “we’ve been watching the UK fitness market since our launch in Australia and are impressed with the dynamic landscape.

“That said, we feel the time is right for a new dance-fitness brand and TAPfit is the natural progression from other programmes because you 'become the beat'.”

Launched in Brisbane, three years ago, the program's unique selling point is its patented technology - specially engineered tap-dancing attachments, known as ‘Feet Beat’, which slip over running shoes to add rhythm to the full-body workout.

TAPfit already holds more than 300 classes every week across Europe, with more than 100 qualified coaches, but the sisters believe the UK is “set to become an extremely significant market for the brand” in 2018.

They have spent the last three years developing the program alongside exercise, diet and physiological professionals.

Instructors attending the day-long UK training will learn how to deliver the program, which incorporates routines from celebrity choreographers who have danced with Justin Beiber, Selena Gomez, and Katy Perry, and competed on US television show So You Think You Can Dance.

TAPfit instructors receive workouts and music periodically, a two-week weight-loss program, more than 100 meal recipes to share online with their class, discount on apparel and equipment, and business support.

TAPfit Director Fiona Johnson adds “we know dance fitness is not new - we're very aware of this and how crowded the space is.

“This is the reason why we've spent so many resources developing, perfecting and patenting our Feet Beat equipment, which slips over any workout shoe so you can create music with your feet. We want the participant to become the beat, not just dance to it.”
