New Zealand Hockey Foundation launches new annual fundraising initiative

Hockey New Zealand has launched the ‘Play It Forward’ fundraiser - a new annual fundraising initiative by the Hockey Foundation, designed to grow and develop the game of hockey across the country.

Hockey New Zealand Board and Senior Advisor Richard Lindroos advised “It's crucial to opening our game and amplifying our sport.”

The fundraiser will target three causes this year that are essential for the growth and development of hockey in New Zealand and address a genuine need within the sport.

The funds raised will have a measurable impact, allowing the recipients to further develop in their respective areas.

This year, donations will go to:

• Coach and Official Developer Programme support: Ensuring coaches and officials receive the necessary support and development to maintain the high standards of the game and be given the opportunity to partake in international levels. This is a programme the Hockey Foundation has supported before and continues to need support in addition to what it's currently receiving.

• Youth scholarship fund for Future Black Sticks development: Support to this fund directly impacts future stars and has been created to support young hockey players on their pathway to becoming future Black Sticks. This fund will support areas such as helping players attend competitions and training events as well as purchase/update hockey gear and equipment.

• Scholarship fund for hardship: This hardship fund is designed to provide financial assistance to individuals or groups facing unexpected and significant challenges that are barriers to hockey participation in New Zealand. This might look like helping provide financial assistance towards purchasing essential hockey gear and equipment and/or covering financial costs to participation in tournaments.

The Hockey foundation appreciates allsupport and says that any donation size goes a long way.
