SEARA and Core Fitness collaborate to establish fitness centre at Mt. Everest base camp

By Karen Sweaney

With head offices in Bangkok, SEARA, an industry leader in Sports and Fitness, has announced its title sponsorship of the prestigious Mt. Everest Marathon and introduces a groundbreaking joint initiative with Core Health & Fitness – the establishment of a pop-up fitness facility at Everest Base Camp.

The high-altitude Everest Marathon is held on 29th May every year, celebrating Tenzing Norgay Sherpa's and Sir Edmund Hillary's historic ascent of Mt. Everest on that date in 1953.

As the title sponsor, Sports Engineering and Recreation Asia (SEARA), is honoured to be an integral part of the world's highest marathon, set against an awe-inspiring backdrop of the Himalayas. This collaboration underscores SEARA's commitment to promoting physical well-being, resilience, and the pursuit of extraordinary challenges.

In a pioneering move, SEARA is partnering with Core Health & Fitness, manufacturers of Star Trac, Nautilus, Schwinn, Stairmaster, Throwdown, and Wexer, to revolutionise the experience for participants and enthusiasts by introducing a pop-up fitness facility at Everest Base Camp. This innovative initiative aims to provide extreme athletes with a dedicated space to prepare and train amidst the unique challenges of high-altitude conditions.

George Foose, SEARA Founder and Chief Executive enthused "we are excited to sponsor the Mt. Everest Marathon and enhance the overall experience by introducing a small fitness facility at Base Camp. The Core Health & Fitness team has been extremely supportive every step of the way and shares our vision of providing best-in-class products to foster health and wellness and to push the boundaries of human achievement.”

In addition to promoting physical fitness, SEARA remains dedicated to environmental sustainability. In sponsoring this race and setting up the fitness facility, SEARA promises to adhere to eco-friendly practices, emphasising their commitment to preserving the pristine beauty of the Everest region.

The Everest Marathon starts at 5,364metres from Mt. Everest Base Camp, finishing at Namche Bazaar.

The 2024 marathon is the 19th edition of this magnificent event. Runners worldwide will converge on Mt. Everest to compete in the 70 km Extreme Ultramarathon, 42 km Full Marathon, and 21 km Half Marathon.

The collaboration between SEARA and Core Fitness to establish a fitness centre at the base camp of Mt. Everest is a testament of their innovative approach to fitness and their ability to provide top-tier fitness solutions even in the most extreme environments. The Mt. Everest Marathon offers individuals a platform to push their limits, embrace challenges, and achieve what was once thought impossible. The addition of the fitness centre at Base Camp further highlights SEARA and Core's commitment to empowering individuals on their journey to conquer new heights.
