Scarborough Beach Park gets a facelift

Children from around Moreton Bay and greater Brisbane have been enjoying a new park on Scarborough's beachfront after reconstruction works were completed in May this year.

The park has long been a favourite of the community, offering themed play activities for toddlers and school aged children amid a forest of cottonwood trees which provide natural climbing challenges.

After a complete transformation including extensive landscaping, improved shade structures, and the replacement of old play equipment, the upgraded play space provides new opportunities for creative play with exciting equipment geared towards older children.

The large play space is comprised of separate areas one featuring a pirate ship, the other featuring a steam engine with sand play, swings and climbing activities also on offer. Toddlers can play in complete safety within the fully fenced park, while older children can enjoy the challenges of a lookout climbing net which provides a great view of Moreton Island.

Urban Play consultant Nikita Burns, a key player in the playground's design and installation, highlighted the importance of preserving and renewing this historic park, explains "the playground has been the main drawcard of Scarborough Beach Park for over twenty years.

"We have the responsibility to ensure that it can continue to be enjoyed by future generations.

"Some of the existing Kompan equipment was able to be reused, which speaks volumes to the quality of the product design and materials.

"It really is an area that the whole family can enjoy."

The design and construction of Scarborough Beach Park was a Moreton Bay Regional Council initiative, with all play equipment designed and supplied by Urban Play and Kompan Australia.
