New environment for sport and play

A new sports court concept from Kompan is set to change the face of team sports by providing a space that accommodates multiple games and functions.

The innovative and original Kompan FREEGAME concept explores the benefits of both sports and socialising and offers community members a place to meet, move, and have fun.

The arrangement of the FREEGAME court provides up to 10 activity zones for independent and group play and supports games such as tennis, basketball, football, hockey and running.

Kompan FREEGAME is also designed to be a welcoming place for meeting and interacting. The site encourages regular gatherings of young people which are important for their personality building and leading an active and healthy lifestyle. All-round visibility allows the users to feel safe and the broad entrance of the pitches provides accessibility for all, meaning adolescents with disabilities can become involved either as participants or spectators.

FREEGAME is able to be fully customised to match specific budgets, locations and wishes of future users while the design is based on an extremely durable hot-dip galvanised steel structure.

This open functional design has been developed in more than 1,200 sites in Europe and is set to be equally as popular in the Australian market.

Brisbane-based playground company, Urban Play, has recently installed a 400 metre2 multisport pitch at Crestmead, in Queensland. The court is the first of its kind in Queensland and just the third FREEGAME court in Australia.
