Anytime Fitness Grafton members exceed Tread As One fundraising campaign goal

After an extensive week-long fundraising campaign, the team at Anytime Fitness Grafton have surpassed their goal to raise monies for mental health charity R U OK?

More than 250 Anytime Fitness clubs across Australia took part in the Tread As One event, with the aim of raising $500,000 for the program.

Earlier this month, Anytime Fitness Grafton owners Jenny Ryder and Kathryn Langford asked their members and community to help raise money for the campaign-– bringing together members, businesses, and the wider local community for a special 12-hour treadmill challenge on Saturday that saw three treadmills used continuously.

Ryder explained “we had some inspirational people taking part and are our challenge heroes.

“One member, Phillip Tarrant, raised $602 by walking one hour in his full hockey goalie gear! Another two guys walked a whole hour in their water ski racing gear, and another member raised over $1000 in 48-hours as suicide was something close to her heart.”

The club raised a total of $10,722 - more than $4,000 more than they had anticipated, and has since earned themselves third place in the Australia-wide challenge.

Langford advised “the Grafton business community came forth with many prizes for our raffle and we had over 30 prizes in all.

“We would like to thank our major sponsors who sponsored the treadmills on the day: Coffee Club Grafton, Deosa & Vital Health, and Allison Whaites Estate Agents.”

Anytime Fitness Grafton was named Fitness Business of the Year Award at the 2020 Australian Fitness Awards.
