S30 welcomes former Fitstop leaders to its team and secures two international master franchise deals
Immersive hybrid group training franchise - Set 30 Studio (S30), has welcomed two former Fitstop leaders to its team after closing two international master franchise deals.
Former Fitstop APAC Chief Executive, Alan Myers has joined S30 as the company’s new strategic advisor, along with ex-Fitstop General Manager for New Zealand, Brendan Hurrell, joining as the group’s Head of Franchising.
Myers will be operating remotely from Queensland, as the group plans to double down on expansion plans across the Eastern Seaboard while establishing a Brisbane HQ and a flagship, with Hurrell relocating to the group’s headquarters in Perth.
The two leadership hires coincide with rapid expansion plans for the S30 group, after the company landed two master franchise deals that will see 40 new franchise locations open in New Zealand and 26 in Singapore.
Darryl and Kelsey McLaughlin will be taking the reins on the New Zealand master franchise, leveraging their experience in running one of the most successful boutique fitness studios in the country.
In Singapore, Ben Ng will be joined by Darnerl Lim and Xin Hui in expanding S30 across the city state, taking advantage of their previous success with operating several F45s and CrossFits.
Together with its expansion plans across Australia, the group has earmarked 250 locations set for development across Asia Pacific over the next seven years. S30 currently has 17 studios operating across WA, NSW, QLD and Singapore, with an additional six to open by mid-year.
S30 Group Chief Executive, Luke Faulkner said the company is at the cusp of a rapid expansion and shares “Good people are at the core of any successful business, and I know Alan and Brendan’s experience is integral to S30 building an amazing team culture ready for an aggressive growth plan. Listening and taking onboard a lot of Alan's lessons and learnings has been invaluable to me and my development as a young leader.
“We have some ambitious targets to expand the S30 experience, but our success to date is proof that there is a strong appetite for our product across markets both locally and internationally. Together with the arrival of Hurrell and Myers, our team is primed for growth and we’re ready for the next chapter of our journey as a leading fitness franchise.”
New Zealand Master Franchise Co-Owner, Darryl McLaughlin, said he’s eager to bring the S30 experience to the country and adds “we’ve had the privilege of discovering S30 in Australia and are thrilled to be at the forefront of its expansion in New Zealand. The S30 product is truly one-of-a-kind and we have no doubt that it will be well received by fitness enthusiasts across the country as we begin our rapid national expansion and we can't wait to launch our first Flagship in June this year.”
S30 has tripled its franchise growth in the last 12 months, adding new hires including Head of Operations, Harris Tihak, and Technology Development Specialist, Lachlan Terrey.
The company received a $2.2 million investment from AusGlobal Director, Peter Su in a private capital raise back in 2021.
S30 Studio has become renowned across Australia for challenging the status quo. The workout replaces tired, predictable and mundane group training classes with an exhilarating workout in a low light, loud bass environment.
S30’s concept presents a fitness space with nightclub-style LED lighting and pumping music to match. Offering group sessions partnered-workout set to hip hop and RnB tracks, the brand’s name refers to the number of sets members will do in an average class, which combines functional fitness, weights and metabolic conditioning to present a sensory led, fully immersive exercise experience.
