Reebok Spartan Race Series to stage first event in Dubai
The Reebok Spartan Race series will stage its first event in the Arabian Gulf in February.
To be held at a Jebel Ali Race Course in Dubai on Friday 20th February, the adventure and obstacle will feature a 5 kilometre course that will challenges participants to conquer obstacles through thick dunes of mud and sand.
Popular around the world, with over 60 Reebok Spartan Races held last year, the timed race will challenge participants to surmount more than 15 obstacles.
To make the course even more challenging, ‘Spartans’ who don’t complete an obstacle will be directed to a ‘burpee station’ – located next to each obstacle – where they must endure 30 burpees before being allowed to continue.
Event organiser Rayyan Yacob Agha told local media “people can expect to see mud, mud and more mud.”
“They can expect to see challenging obstacles and a lot of camaraderie.”
All participants will get a medal, T-shirt, cap and nutrition pack at the finish line. There will also be a junior 1.8 kilometre race with varying obstacles.
With adventure, multisport and obstacle racing Identified as one of the fastest growing sports in history, almost two million people have taken part in Spartan Rraces in 21 countries.
As part of the overall growth in adventure, multisport and obstacle races, the United Arab Emirates has already staged the Wadi Adventure Race, Desert Warrior Challenge and the Men’s Health Urbanathlon.
