Redcliffe PCYC secures $2 million grant to improve and upgrade facilities

The Queensland Government has announced a $2 million grant for PCYC Redcliffe to improve and upgrade facilities with the funding allowing for new and upgraded seating, ventilation improvements, air-conditioning and a modified facility layout.

With one of the largest memberships in Queensland, offering everything from martial arts and gymnastics to crime prevention programs, Redcliffe PCYC provides vital support for the region’s young people, which is why this additional funding is so appreciated.

PCYC Queensland has an established history of supporting young Queenslanders through social programs, prevention and disruption activities – resulting in increased participation, reduced youth offending and youth recidivism.

PCYC Redcliffe has delivered a number of important programs in 2024, including:

  • Rise Up Be Yourself

  • Drop-in Basketball and boxing sessions

  • Youth Leadership teams

  • Bike education, and

  • Road safety workshops.

During Term One of 2024, PCYC Redcliffe delivered 113 program sessions to 1869 participants and commenced Drop-In Boxing, and Drop-In Basketball, programs not previously delivered at the club.

It’s anticipated that improved facilities will increase local participation and pride in the community.

City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery noted “Important upgrades to this busy community hub will increase accessibility and ensure new and refurbished facilities cater for increased demand.

“Council believes investing in local social infrastructure is core to a healthy and happy community and we know our PCYC’s are not only welcoming places to play sports and build friendships, but also importantly, are where young people can receive encouragement and support through professional programs and services.

“Working collaboratively with other levels of Government means we can continue to upgrade facilities for City of Moreton Bay residents.

“I welcome today’s announcement and thank the Premier for this vital funding; one that will have a positive impact for so many in our community.”
