Qatar Aqua Park attracts 15,000 visitors during Eid holidays

Aqua Park, Qatar’s only waterpark, attracted 15,000 visitors during the Eid al-Fitr holidays.

A range of pirate-themed activities and celebrations were held at the park during the week, helping draw big crowds.

The waterpark will continue to introduce new attractions and promotions over the next couple of months to maintain its presence in the local and regional sphere as a hub for family recreation, especially over the summer and Eid breaks, according to the statement.

Aqua Park General Manager Mohamed Firdaus Raj explained “Aqua Park is first and foremost a family destination. Our pirate-themed event during Eid al-Fitr was just one of the many planned attractions that were organised to ensure that we make this park a go-to destination for families in Qatar and the GCC region. We will definitely have more activities coming up in the near future."

During August, Aqua Park will introduce new amusement park rides such as inflatable slides, which will come as an addition to the park’s existing 15 water rides and bumper boats.

Friday will get back its initial designation as 'family day', where family-centred activities will be constantly be on offer, while, as of this week Tuesdays will return to being ladies-only days. In addition, starting from September, Aqua Park will launch a new back-to-school promotion.

So far, the park has attracted 80,000 visitors this season only. A total of 150,000 people visited Aqua Park in 2013 and the total for this year is an expected 170,000, the statement adds.

In terms of safety, the park is staffed with 50 lifeguards and 12 security officers.
