Qatar's first Waterpark opens
The initial stage of Aqua Park Qatar, the country's first water theme park, has opened.
Qatar's newest attraction, covering 50,000 metres2, is set to double in size when completed in May next year.
The park boasts a variety of services such as kiosks and cafes along with a wave, lagoon and childrenâs pools; a variety of slides 14 to 20 metres high as well as lazy river ride.
The waterpark's lagoon pool is themed with fountains, light effects, rock-art works and shaded Jacuzzis and a 'winding-down area' with food and beverage outlets set on green paths that resemble tracks in a rainforest.
Aqua Park Qatar, with a capacity of over 3,000 visitors and which offers parking for 400 cars, is located in the Abu Nakhla district of the Gulf nation.
Mohammed Khurshid, General Manager of Aqua Park Kuwait said that the park will be operated and managed according to the best practices and highest safety standards in maintaining the cleanliness of water with the assistance of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa). Qatar Red Crescent is also assisting the park, having provided a complete set of medical equipment.
Abdullah Hassan al-Ghanem, Chief Executive of developer Hala Group Enterprises explains that "the project is being developed in line with the Qatari government's policy to boost tourism in the country."
