Parks Sports Centre celebrates swimming pool opening

A community celebration will be held tomorrow (Saturday 21st December) to mark the official opening of the new swimming centre at The Parks Recreation and Sports Centre in the northern Adelaide suburb of Regency Park.

South Australian Deputy Premier and Minister for Planning John Rau has also announced that the YMCA will be operating the facilities, stating "this really is a great Centre in the heart of a real community."

The South Australian Government is investing $28.7 million to transform the facility into a state-of-the-art sport and community hub with the news swimming pool marking the first stage of the redevelopment.

Over the coming weeks an indoor recreation centre, gym and fitness centre will also open.

Minister Rau added that "the new aquatic centre at the Parks will provide local jobs with the YMCA able to recruit including managers, administration staff and lifeguards."

The project aims to refocus the facility as a community asset and ensure community and recreational services continue to be provided.
