Outgoing VTIC Chair acknowledged for long standing contribution
The Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) has honoured the long service and job well done by Jeremy Johnson, who after fulfilling the role as Chair of VTIC for the past decade announced his retirement at the last meeting of the VTIC Board.
Johnson has been involved with VTIC since its inception, and has worked tirelessly to improve and create opportunities for the Victorian tourism industry in this time.
Johnson has been a solid supporter of the developing role of VTIC and has steered the organisation through several changes of government and through structural change, which has seen the organisation evolve to cement its position as the peak advocacy and policy body for Victorian tourism. He has been instrumental in elevating the status of the tourism and events industry, which is now recognised as one of the pillars of the Victorian economy.
Looking back on his achievements, Johnson stated “it has been an honour to serve as Chair of the Victoria Tourism Industry Council for the past decade, and has been a privilege to contribute to its growth and development into the peak advocacy body for the tourism and events industry.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed this time as Chair and am grateful for the opportunity to assist in shaping and contributing to the strategic direction of our industry. It has been a pleasure to work alongside Dianne Smith and the VTIC team.”
Johnson will continue on in his position as Chief Executive of Ballarat attraction, Sovereign Hill, and remains on the Executive Council of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is also the Vice President of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Acknowledging Johnson’s contribution, VTIC Chief Executive Dianne Smith added “VTIC has had a most positive and productive working relationship with Mr Johnson and admires his firm approach when dealing with complex matters, his strategic advice and his commitment and passion for the industry.”
Current Board Director and founder and Director of Peninsula Hot Springs, Charles Davidson, will succeed Johnson as Chair of the VTIC Board from 1st July 2016.
