Northern Arena’s Mark Saunders to present at Swim Schools Conference

The Australian Swim Schools Association (ASSA) has announced the first of several overseas speakers sort for its national conference in Darwin next year.

New Zealander Mark Saunders will present on ‘Turning Your Teaching Staff Into Superstars … via video analysis and feedback’”.

Saunders (pictured) has had extensive experience in the swim industry for over 40 years, including as a Physical Education teacher, swim teacher, swim school owner, coach and Manager of the NZ Swim Team during the past 21 years.

He is currently the Director of Swimming at Auckland aquatic and fitness facility Northern Arena. Located in Auckland’s north, Northern Arena has been operating for just over six years and has been recognised as New Zealand’s leading swim school for the past five years.

Looking forward to the presentation, ASSA Chief Executive Ross Gage stated “with a swim teaching staff of over 50, Northern Arena have developed a swim teacher training and development program to ensure consistent delivery of product and a high standard of teaching methods and skills at all levels.

“Saunders’s presentation looks at the effective use of video analysis to improve swim teaching skills and student learning through self-analysis by the teachers and positive feedback.”

Emily McNeill, Conference 2017 Convenor, stated that “ASSA would be in a position to announce at least two more world leading presenters from overseas in the coming weeks”.

The ASSA 2017 Conference is being helf in Darwin from 21st to 23rd August next year.
