AWRA to trade as Women Sport Australia

The Australian Womensport and Recreation Association has advised its stakeholders that it is to trade and identify as Women Sport Australia (WSA).

In a recent communication, Women Sport Australia President Carol Fox advised of the organisation's "2017 Strategy to make it clearer and easier to communicate and comprehend who we are and what we do.

The changed branding has also seen the launch of a new Women Sport Australia logo and relaunched website.

Fox added "it’s taken a lot of work from our volunteer board to achieve these changes and we are delighted with the results ... but as you know WSA is a lot more than a name, logo and website."

As the peak national advocacy organisation that stands up for all women in all sport, WSA's 11 volunteer board directors:

• Meet and lobby State and Federal politicians and ministers;
• Present and moderate at women-in-sport seminars, forums and conferences;
• Publish press releases and talk to the media about hot button women-in-sport issues and;
• Keep stakeholders, up to date with via Facebook and Twitter

Fox concluded "2017 is a historic year for women-in-sport and already we have had to take two major sports to task for not giving sportswomen a fair go."
