Nocturnal immersive experience returns to Scenic World in 2025

Nocturnal, a sensory journey inspired by the landscape and wildlife of the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains and Gundungurra Country returns to Scenic World in 2025 with an all-new immersive nighttime experience.

After a sold-out debut season, Nocturnal returns re-imagined with holographic native creatures, projection mapping across ancient rock formations and an illuminated interpretation of the secret language of the forest, transforming the rainforest into an unforgettable after-dark experience exclusive to Scenic World.

Running from 3rd April to 11th May, this year’s extended season of Nocturnal promises an all-new mesmerising sensory experience curated by Laservision to celebrate the native animals and plants of the Blue Mountains and Scenic World’s 80th anniversary in 2025.

Nocturnal 2025 celebrates the engineering marvels of Scenic World’s iconic rides such as the world’s steepest railway and Australia’s first cable car.

New highlights and returning crowd-favourites include:

  • A holographic lyrebird basking in the moonlight.

  • A forest walk illuminating the secret language of trees.

  • Light projections inspired by the local landscape and history.

  • Descending into the night on the world’s steepest railway.

  • Gliding above the canopy and amongst the cliffs on towering cable cars.

  • Seeing the Three Sisters lit up against the darkness of the National Park.

Reflecting on the significance of this milestone year, Anthea Hammon, Managing Director of Scenic World, said that for 80 years, Scenic World has been a place of wonder, bringing visitors closer to the beauty of the Blue Mountains.

Hammon advised “we’ve evolved from a small family-run attraction into an internationally recognised destination, and this year Nocturnal is a tribute to our history, our people, and the stunning landscape we call home. Seeing the rainforest reimagined through light and sound is a spectacular way to honour our legacy.

“Nocturnal is an opportunity to experience Scenic World in a whole new light - the rainforest around us and even the engineering marvels of our rides take on a fresh character at night.”

Laservision’s Owner and Chief Executive Shannon Brooks said Laservision is delighted to return to Scenic World to curate a second season of Nocturnal.

Brooks enthused “we are thrilled to be bringing the iconic Scenic World to life at night with a new magical show that celebrates its history and the site's geographical features and ecosystem.

“This year's Nocturnal show will feature stunning new dynamic light sculptures and breathtaking aerial lighting effects, alongside crowd-favourite holograms, nature projections, and dazzling starlight lasers.”

Nocturnal runs from 3rd April to 11th May on select nights including throughout the school holidays.
