Ninja Parc Championship League aims to raise profile of ninja sport
Belgravia Group’s Ninja Parc is offering “budding ninjas” across Australia the opportunity to compete locally and nationally with the creation of a new Championship League.
The Ninja Parc indoor obstacle course is part of a growing trend that is transforming physical activity by maximising the fun and adventure and minimising the boredom and repetition of more traditional sports.
Ninja Parc has seen a huge spike in ninjas – 30% more than this time last year – and many wanted the opportunity to compete more regularly, so the Ninja Parc Championship League was born.
A series of competitions will occur annually, starting off with local qualifiers and building to an annual national championship event held in November at a different Australian location each year.
Children as young as seven are able to compete, often alongside former Ninja Warrior contestants.
Ninja Parc National Programs Manager Mitch Bird said the Championship League would help further raise the profile of the sport in Australia.
Bird advised “we want this to really help build up ninja as its own sport and follow in the footsteps of other new-age sports that have really come into their own in the last few years, including parkour and sports climbing, which is now actually an Olympic sport. We want to support kids and provide them with a pathway to progress, improve and achieve great things within this sport.
“The League will be inclusive and welcoming and provide ninjas of all ages and abilities with an equal opportunity to experience competition in a safe and supportive environment.”
Former Ninja Warrior (Season 5 & 6) and Newcastle local Jason Mitchell, who will take part in the 2023 League, said he wishes the structure was around when he was younger.
“I was never a fan of traditional sports and I wish something like this Championship League existed when I was a kid. It’s such a great concept and gives kids an alternative activity and a supportive environment to thrive in.
“I look forward to taking part this year and also supporting young ninjas to build their skills.”
