New Convention Centre for Fiji

The construction of Fiji's Denarau Island Convention Centre is on track for completion by the end of March 2014, Sheraton and Westin Resorts Fiji have confirmed.

The purpose-built permanent structure is located at Sheraton Fiji Resort and accessed via undercover walkway to the resort's existing ballroom pre-function area and lobby, and once finished it will become the largest event space on Denarau.

With a capacity of 1,200 seated guests Denarau Island Convention Centre will aim to attract larger conventions and exhibitions to Fiji from Australia, New Zealand, the US and Asia.

Introducing the venue, Director of Sales and Marketing Paul Yui stated "the key attribute will be having a venue with the capacity to host large local, regional and international gatherings enabling a greater scope of events for Fiji."

One of the first big events to be held in the Centre will be the Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) in May 2014.
