Mt Buller welcomes weekend of snow

Snow falling on Australia’s alpine region over the weekend has been welcomed by ski operators.

As of yesterday morning, Mt Buller reported a thick white blanket of 25cms of fresh snow over the weekend, with falls continuing as of today.

Buller Ski Lifts Communications Manager, Rhylla Morgan advised “it’s dumping and we are enjoying the kind of fresh conditions you’d expect in July, not during finals footy.

“We kicked off the season with record cover back in June, and we are grateful to Mother Nature for sending us out on a high note too.  It’s not every year we slide into the last two weeks of the season with such good cover and so much terrain to explore.” she added.

Mt Buller is currently rolling 13 lifts including Summit, Wombat, Bull Run and Southside with advanced runs in the mix due to this top up of snow.  The depth of 64-97cms of snow gives reassurance to skiers and boarders looking to enjoy a snow holiday between now and the season close as of 2nd October.

Morgan added “we were already seeing good numbers of bookings from families making the most of the Spring discounts during school holidays, but this ‘bonus snow’ is too hard to pass up so lift passes are being snapped up online this morning.”

Mt Buller is open for skiing and boarding through to Sunday 2nd October events on the resort calendar including a Festival of Footy, National Pond Skim Championships, Champagne Ice Bar, Live music and Kids’ Week activities.
