Mt Buller to develop new chairlift for 2019 winter season
Victorian ski resort Mt Buller is to offer skiers and snowboarders a new, faster ride up the Bourke Street slope next winter with the announcement that a $6 million, six-seater high-speed chairlift for season 2019.
Set to replace the Blue Bullet quad chairlift, the upgraded larger and faster lift will see Mt Buller skiers and boarders experience less time waiting in lines and more time on the snow.
Announcing the new feature, Buller General Manager Laurie Blampied advised “in 1983 Blue Bullet 1 & 2 were the first high-speed detachable quad chairlifts in the world.
“Local skiers and boarders will be a little sad to see Blue Bullet go as it’s been a big part of our mountain but after moving a staggering 500,000 guests every winter - that’s 17 million passengers in its 34 year lifetime - we think it’s time to retire.
“There isn’t another chairlift in Victoria that has carried more passengers.”
This will be the fourth new chairlift added to the network at Mt Buller since 2005.
