Moreton Bay’s new Narangba Tennis Centre set for opening
Moreton Bay Regional Council is set to introduce its new Narangba Tennis Centre to the community with a grand opening event this Sunday (15th May) featuring come-and-try tennis clinics.
Featuring six courts, a clubhouse and car parking, the new $4 million facility, managed by Tennis Queensland, was developed by the Council with financial backing from the Queensland Government.
Urged all budding stars, beginner or pro, to come on down to the Harris Avenue Sports Complex and try the facilities for themselves, Moreton Bay Mayor, Peter Flannery stated “I can’t wait to see the next Ash Barty or Pat Rafter developing their ‘love’ of the game here in Moreton Bay Region thanks to this smash hit facility.
“With the Olympics not too far away it’d be great to see a homegrown star on the podium at the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“Tennis Queensland will take on the management of the new precinct and I’m pleased to see how enthusiastic they are to engage with the community by supporting this free come and try day.
“This is just one of many facilities Council is delivering to a gold medal standard on the road to 2032, including our very own Olympic Park 7,000 indoor stadium at The Mill, Petrie.”
Tennis Queensland General Manager, Elia Hill said this facility will play a huge part in their plans to expand the sport across Moreton Bay.
Hill added “we’re so happy to have this partnership with Moreton Bay Regional Council to help access a whole new wave of tennis fans to pick up a racquet.
“We’ve appointed a highly experienced tennis coach Wade Foster from InTennis as the head coach of this facility and we know he’ll do a great job inspiring everyone from children to adults.
“Mr Foster who has 20 years’ experience in Moreton Bay, so he’ll be great for anyone wanting to learn new skills and have fun.
“I’d like to thank Council for this great facility, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.”
The Narangba Tennis Centre offers tennis lessons and activities for people of all abilities.
