Key staff arrivals and changes at Precor

Precor has welcomed four new recruits to its Australian team, while global President and fitness industry leader Paul Byrne has announced that he is to retire after 28 years with the company.

Following the recent first anniversary of the establishment of its Australian office, launched in April 2012, Precor's creation of the four new roles highlighting its commitment to local customers.

Richard Derbyshire (pictured) has commenced as Marketing Executive, along with three new Sales Executives; Mark Bentwich (New South Wales), Dave Thorn (Victoria & South Australia) and Nicole Holmes (National Sales Support).

Announcing the appointments, Precor Australia & New Zealand Business Director Andy Pickett explained "the expansion of our Australian team highlights how serious we are about delivering not only innovative, quality products but also the highest standard of service possible in order to help our customers grow their businesses. Precor consistently strives to exceed customer expectations in equipment design, member experience and service.

"This month we celebrate the first anniversary of our Australian office, and I'm delighted with what we've been able to help our customers achieve in that time.

"Our new sales team members will greatly assist us in continuing to provide an industry leading level of service to our existing customers as well as new ones in any geographical area, while Richard's role highlights our commitment to growing our brand presence and position within the Australian market."

Richard Derbyshire, joins Precor with over 11 years' combined marketing and sales experience, including six years as Sports Marketing Manager for PUMA Australia, and international experience, having managed marketing activities for Contiki Holidays in London.

Welcoming his appointment, Derbyshire explained "from a professional background I've delivered creative marketing strategies within dynamic international marketplaces across a broad category of responsibilities including; brand management, consumer, trade, digital marketing, event management, sponsorship and public relations."

Sydney based Mark Bentwitch is a valuable asset to the Precor Australia team with over eight years' sales and product development experience within the Australian and overseas commercial and consumer fitness equipment industry, spending several years in North America, Asia and Europe. As a Precor customer himself, Bentwitch is well placed to deliver the Precor experience to New South Wales health and fitness operators.

Dave Thorn joins Precor from Adelaide, with over five years' sales experience within the sports and fitness industry as an agent for brands including Under Armour, Everlast and AFL licensing products. Dave is highly skilled in account management, developing customer relationships and providing leading sales and support service. With a focus on long-term relationships and customer support, Dave is the perfect fit for the Precor team.

Nicole Holmes has ten years' experience in customer service, having previously worked for nab. With a keen interest in health and fitness, her customer service skills will be a great asset in her new Sales Support role.

Meanwhile, Paul Byrne has announced that, after 28 years with Precor, he will retire as company President (a role he has filled for 13 years) on 1st September with Precor Vice President, Rob Barker, assuming the presidencyin the culmination of a long-developing succession plan.

In announcing his retirement, Byrne explained "over the past 35 years, I have been fortunate to have been part of an industry that has contributed to the well being of so many people, and to have spent 28 of those years at Precor has been beyond fortunate. It has been an immeasurable gift. I will retire with great pride in what we have accomplished and with eager anticipation of what lies ahead."
