International Association of Trampoline Parks calls for global trampoline safety standards

The International Association of Trampoline Parks (IATP), the global body for trampoline arenas, has announced that it will promote safety standards and provide resources to encourage patron education and to aid trampoline arena owners and operators around the world in addressing optimal jumper safety as their top priority.

The Pennsylvania, USA-based IATP, has highlighted the global growth of trampoline arenas, with over 550 indoor trampoline parks operating worldwide. As the industry continues to grow globally, the IATP is promoting safety recommendations and standards established by global standards body ASTM International (formerly known as the American Society for Testing and Materials) that address the design, manufacture, operation, installation and maintenance of indoor trampoline parks and establish a safe level of construction and operational conformity among parks.

IATP highlight the recent shutdown of the Ryze indoor trampoline park in Scotland in showing the importance of proper operating procedures, staff education and certification in the indoor trampoline arena industry. While the IATP did not comment on the specific operations of that park or the quality of its equipment, it highlights its availability to all operators in providing industry resources.

IATP Chairman Jeff Platt stated “we have initiated discussions with Ryze officials to determine how the IATP could best offer our services and resources to assist with their efforts.”

The IATP was created in 2012 under the guiding principles of ensuring the integrity, transparency and innovation of the indoor trampoline park industry and to promote safe operations, facilitate commercial success and stimulate growth. It is the mission of the IATP to be regarded as an essential resource and the international authority for our industry.

The IATP will be holding its third Annual Conference & Trade Show at The Westin Westminster in Westminster (Boulder/Denver), Colorado, USA from 15th to 17th September.

The Conference will feature a range of presentations and workshops offering attendees the opportunity to take all of their necessary instructional classes to achieve success on the certification exams.
