Innovative use of green reserve delivers new outdoor pop-up summer venue for Sydney

As a direct response to the COVID restrictions affecting the live music and events industries in NSW, Australian live music industry stalwarts Architects of Entertainment have today announced an innovative new outdoor summer venue, The Village Green, set to pop up at Tempe Recreation Reserve in Sydney’s inner west from Friday 21st January to Sunday 27th February.

Conveniently located just 20 minutes from the CBD, and just 700m from Sydney International Airport, The Village Green is a lush, picturesque greenfield venue surrounded by a perfect circle of enormous fig trees, set right on the edge of Cook’s River.

The walk-in concert venue will provide promoters and touring companies with full event infrastructure and top-tier outdoor live music delivery from Architects of Entertainment (‘AoE’), one of Australia’s most experienced and respected outdoor event producers.

The Village Green co-owners Nathaniel Holmes and Haydn Johnston (pictured below) note “never before has a venue like The Village Green been available to the Australian music industry. We now have a completely unique parcel of land, for six weeks, during the best part of summer, fully licensed, and approved for outdoor live music and dancing – it’s a dream come true.

“The Village Green is a direct response to the COVID restrictions affecting the live music and events industries. What we’ve created here in Tempe is an outdoor venue capable of accommodating crowd capacities that most indoor venues in Sydney are still unable to achieve. The city is more than ready for a return to live music and we’ve got the perfect spot for it.”

Holmes and Johnston added “together we’ve been producing shows for over 25 years. More than anything, the last two years have shown us exactly how much we appreciate the industry we’re in and the opportunities we have to do the work we do, so we’re incredibly proud to be able to help bring live music back to life in Australia. We can’t wait to see everyone -- back playing music, back dancing, back eating and drinking, back at work! -- at The Village Green in Summer 2022.”

Designed to host up to 2,800 patrons, The Village Green is easily accessed by train and bus, with rideshare drop off less than 300m from the venue entrance. The pop-up venue also provides food and beverage options, merchandise facilities, and full amenities in a lively and atmospheric outdoor greenfield location.

The Village Green will announce performance lineup in early December.
