myvenue point of sale technology backs COVIDSafe live music events

Backing new ways that event and festival patrons need to behave in order to maintain social distancing, the myvenue app is helping patrons to enjoy live events in South Australia.

Introduced at the Summer Sounds Festival in Adelaide last month, the app allows patrons to select their drinks and place an order by tapping their mobile device on the NFC (near field communication) tag in the venue’s party pods.

Using COVIDSafe ‘party pod’ pens to ensure social distancing between group, four to six people can book a party pod together in which they can dance, drink, stand or sit to enjoy the live performance

When ordering drinks using the myvenue app, the order then displays on the bar crew’s tablet, who then use their Bar Buggy Service to deliver each order.

Commenting on the technology, Daniel Michael, Director of Summer Sounds venue operator Groove Events stated “we worked closely with the myvenue technical team to adapt the myvenue mobile ordering and POS platform to suit this new party pod festival format that complies with SA Health’s COVID-19 management plan requirements.

“We literally only had weeks to get the system designed and approved so it was a great effort”

myvenue Chief Operating Officer, David Brooks added “we are super excited to be part of Summer Sounds Festival and showcase myvenue technology.

“We anticipate more than 15,000 festival patrons will experience how easy it is to use the myvenue app whilst at the same time the bar crew will enjoy serving patrons faster and more effectively using myvenue’s POS.”

Launched in 2017, MyVenue Pty Ltd is an agile, technology-oriented company that provides Software-as-a-Service to improve the way patrons buy food and beverage in hospitality venues while freeing venues from traditional POS terminals.

myvenue understands the importance of a fast, robust and reliable system, with tight best of breed integration. myvenue seamlessly integrates food and beverage ordering and payment directly from a patron’s phone with the venues POS and back office platform. The myvenue team comprises engineering, support and decision makers with deep hospitality POS experience.

With the Summer Sounds Festival venue in Adelaide’s Park Lands an SA Health-approved outdoor venue, more than 20 shows are being staged at the venue.
