Gold Coast Council announces grants to promote live music
The City of Gold Coast has announced a business improvement grants program to help live music venues and businesses grow and diversify their operations.
Advising that the Council sees live music as being of value to the area’s “cultural economy”, Gold Coast Deputy Mayor, Donna Gates stated “that’s why we endorsed the Music Action Plan in 2019 which encourages the development of live music right across the Gold Coast.
“Part of that plan includes a business improvement package to further stimulate the industry.
“As we all know, visitors and locals experiencing live music in a variety of coast venues has been a mainstay of our cultural identity for decades.
“We are delighted to be again encouraging live music and music business owners through this funding program.’’
The Grants are available to assist businesses purchase equipment, improve business operations or acoustics, the program is offering a total of $80,000 in $5,000 and $10,000 grants for existing music venues and businesses.
Application close on 27th January 2021 and businesses can apply if they are an existing live music venue (or business) that has music development/creation/promotion/management as its core purpose.
