ICC Sydney develops accelerated recruitment process

International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) has developed an accelerated recruitment process providing job seekers with feedback within a day of their application – expediting the venue’s hiring process to meet demand.

The large scale employer has refined its recruitment process for applicants across a multitude of culinary, audio visual, building presentation and event management service roles. The refined hiring process complements the recently enhanced employee benefits scheme, reaffirming the venue’s status as an employer of choice in the business events industry.

ICC Sydney Chief Executive, Geoff Donaghy said the 2022 recruitment program formed part of the venue’s ongoing commitment to prioritising the people at the centre of its operations.

Donaghy notes “since the venue’s inception, we’ve fostered a culture of innovation and improved efficiencies. A positive candidate experience is central to our hiring process and aligns with our objective to uphold our employee value proposition to do the extraordinary – together.

“With the steep increase of in person events, we are adding new team members across a spectrum of skills to meet the needs of our clients.  Our approach to recruitment, combined with our enhanced employee benefits program, will help us to continue to be more than a venue for the customers and community we serve.”

ICC Sydney Director of Human Resources, Luke Fleming said successful casual candidates can expect to be notified of a job offer within a day of their interview, trained within five days and start the following week.

“We have opened up a number of casual and permanent roles to meet the surge in demand for face to face events.  Our accelerated recruitment process streamlines the candidate journey and improves their overall experience from application, to offer and on boarding with us,” Fleming said.

ICC Sydney has over 200 events in its calendar until the end of the financial year. The roles on offer will help support the delivery of these events and others in the months beyond, including:

  • Banquet Waiter

  • Kitchen Logistics / Steward

  • Cook / Chef

  • Event Set-up

  • Event Logistics

  • Customer Service Usher

  • Customer Service Team Leader

  • Presentation Services Cleaners and Uniform Room

  • Car Park and Logistic

  • Security Officer

  • Security Team Leader

Applicants will be invited to the venue’s casual open day to be run each week, with the first open day commencing on Thursday, 10th February 2022.
