Hepburn Shire Council renews Belgravia Leisure’s lease at historic Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa
Hepburn Shire Council has announced that it has renewed Belgravia Leisure’s tenancy at the historic Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa.
Belgravia Leisure has managed the premises for the past 16 years and looks forward to continuing at this location.
Advising that the Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa, which sits within the Hepburn Mineral Springs Reserve, is a significant asset, Hepburn Shire Mayor, Brian Hood stated “the premises underwent significant renovations in 2008, which were carried out by the State Government. It is now time for a rejuvenation, with a $2 million investment from Belgravia Leisure for capital works improvements. This investment is vital to sustain the asset. Alongside that, Council will invest in some structural and drainage works to maintain the site’s longevity.”
In the competitive spa and wellness space, the upgraded facilities are well-placed to maintain the Bathhouse’s excellent reputation and continue to be a high-quality destination drawcard for our region.
The venue provides local services and products to enhance the visitor experience while there is also a social community benefit through the local community pricing regime for access to the Bathhouse.
Mayor Hood noted “we are pleased to have the support of the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, and Regional Development Victoria for this new lease. The interior upgrades will continue a bathing tradition that began in 1895, and prior to that, a place of healing and wellness for the local Indigenous population.”
Welcoming the lease extension, Belgravia Leisure Chief Executive, Nick Cox advised “we are honoured to continue our management tenure at Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa and appreciate that with this privilege comes great responsibility.
“We will work hard to continue to preserve the Bathhouse’s exceptional reputation and attract locals and tourists alike to the area, enabling the community to become a self-sustaining travel destination”.
Explaining Belgravia Leisure’s investment in the attraction, Cox added “we have also committed to a $2 million investment to ensure the longevity of this historic gem. The investment will enable amenity upgrades which includes the changing facilities as well as the introduction of new experiences that will improve our wellness offerings and attract new markets.
“Environmental sustainability initiatives also form part of the capital program, including more sustainable plant and equipment. It’s an exciting time for Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa and we are thrilled to be at the helm as we work to create even more memorable experiences for our guests.”
