FunLab celebrates reaching $100 million in revenue with a national initiative

Leading leisure industry entrepreneur, FunLab Chief Executive Michael Schreiber, has just wowed his hardworking ‘Motherfunner’ staff in a national initiative.

Funlab, the company behind Australia’s leading entertainment brands Holey Moley, Strike Bowling, Archie Bros Cirque Electric, B.Lucky & Sons and Sky Zone is celebrating reaching $100 million in revenue this year with a 45% EBITDA growth, by giving away a brand new VW GTI car to a randomly selected team member.

In a modern day Where’s Wally operation, Schreiber travelled in secret to one of the 29 venues across the country to present the car to a randomly selected staff member.

All 1,182 ‘Motherfunners’ (employees) watched in anticipation as they tried to work out where he was headed.

Binamra Pant from Nepal has been revealed as the winner of the car. Binamra works in the kitchen at Archie Brothers in the Sydney suburb of Alexandria and having moved to Australia in March 2017 to study a Bachelor of Accounting.

Binamra’s Manager describes him as a “humble, hard-working, smart guy who is always available and willing to help”.

Shreiber said, “hitting $100 million turnover in one year is an incredible achievement for Funlab and it would never have been possible without the passionate, hard- working and creative team I have around me.

“This is an amazing milestone for the business, so I wanted to celebrate with the Funlab Motherfunners that made it happen. As well as the car giveaway, each of our 29 venues will receive $1,000 towards a staff party and another five employees will each win $1,000.

“We are in the business of fun and believe in the' science of wow', so it makes sense that this company-wide celebration is fun and exciting with the element of surprise.

“We’re extremely proud to have incredibly dedicated and passionate people across our entire family of brands.”

Funlab’s EBITDA forecast for 2018/19 is more than $24 million, a 46% increase on the previous year, and it’s on track to reach 35 Funlab venues in 2019 across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

In the past 12 months, Funlab launched eight new venues including Holey Moley Auckland and two new brands, Archie Bros Cirque Electric and B.Lucky & Sons.

In 2018/19 Funlab will expand into the oversees market and will add a new brand to its family of directional entertainment concepts in March 2019.
