Funlab to stage Australia’s first National Fun Day
With 21 locations across Australia offering bowling, laser tag, karaoke, mini golf and trampolines, Funlab is to stage Australia’s first National Fun Day on Tuesday 24th October in support of headspace, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation.
The day will see all Funlab venues - Strike Bowling, Sky Zone and Holey Moley Golf Club in Queensland, South Australia, NSW and Victoria - host free activities, with a suggested gold coin donation to Headspace.
Often described as the “company dedicated to the science of wow”, Funlab Group Chief Executive Michael Schreiber explains “the essence of Funlab is that fun is infectious and our mission is to create wow spaces where the world can experience fun at the next level.
“We are encouraging all Australians to stop for a moment on October 24th and have fun- for a really good cause.”
"Having fun is scientifically proven to have massive health benefits. Fun reduces cortisol levels (the stress hormone) and increases serotonin (the mood chemical), increases energy and our ability to cope, improves memory and concentration, helps us form meaningful connections to others and is a super sleep aid.”
Schreiber added that as a result “we are proud to support headspace and the important work they do providing mental health services to young people.”
headspace Chief Executive Jason Trethowan said he was thrilled that headspace would play a role in Australia’s first National Fun Day, adding “on behalf of the headspace network I’d like to thank the team at Funlab for their ongoing support of headspace and youth mental health across the country.”
headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.
