Fijian Tourism Expo to focus on Tourism and the Community

The Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) 2015 is to focus on the theme of ‘Tourism and the Community’ placing emphasis on the importance of the tourism industry to Fiji’s economy and the numerous positive impacts the industry has on the lives of the local community.

Being held in Denarau from 15th to 19th June, Tourism Fiji has revealed that 500 people are confirmed to participate in Fiji’s premier tourism industry event.

A record 292 Fijian tourism product and service providers have registered for the three-day event, and a total of 125 booths have been booked to attend FTE 2015. In addition, 169 international buyers and media are confirmed as attending the event, beingg brought in by the platinum sponsor, Fiji Airways.

Tourist Transport Fiji (TTF) and ATS Pacific are facilitating meet and greet, as well as accommodating on the ground transfers throughout FTE 2015.

Looking forward to the event, Tourism Fiji’s Director of Events Sally Cooper explains “this year at FTE there is a focus on Tourism and the Community; how Tourism can benefit our local community through employment opportunities, supporting Fijian Made and Fijian Crafted by working with Fijian entertainers and artists

“Community and tourism are symbiotic in Fiji, which will be illustrated beautifully by FTE – our Fijian communities with their blissful attitude to life and their exuberant demeanour is what attracts tourists.”

FTE 2015 will commence with an official welcome ceremony by Pacific Destinations, followed by a fashion show of ‘Fijian Made’ by Fijian designers in conjunction with support from Rosie DMC and Accor.

Cooper adds “In this community theme, Westpac Bank have given their exhibition space to Rise Beyond the Reef to exhibit the products produced by rural women.

“Even the Fiji Coffee and Fiji Water on offer throughout FTE are Fijian Made.”

Tourism Fiji has purposely selected FTE’s dates immediately prior to the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) 2015, to be hosted in Melbourne, to make it easier for buyers from key long haul markets to make the most out of their annual visits to the Pacific region.
